“Walang mahalagang hindi inihandog ng may pusong mahal sa bayang nagkupkop, dugo, yaman, dunong, katiisa’t pagod, buhay ma’y abuting magkalagut-lagot.” – Gat. Andres Bonifacio (Pag-big sa Tinubuang Lupa)

The National Police College, led by Dr. Romeo S. Magsalos, MPSA celebrated a very special flag-raising ceremony at NPC main campus in Camp Gen Mariano N Castañeda in Silang, Cavite last May 30, 2022. The National Flag Day is Celebrated to honor and commemorate the day when the current Philippine Flag was first unfurled and waved by the Philippine Revolutionary Soldiers in the battle of Alapan in Imus, province of Cavite. Then the Spanish forces were defeated in 1898. The National Flag Day is also commemorated to give respect and reverence to our symbol of national sovereignty and solidarity. The Philippine Flag is the embodiment of all our country’s ideals, culture, and tradition.

On March 6, 1965, Presidential Proclamation No. 374 was issued by President Diosdado Macapagal declaring May 28 as National Flag Day. And on May 23, 1994, Executive Order No. 79 was issued by President Fidel Ramos, extending the period of celebrating National Flag Day from May 28 to June 12. All Filipinos are encouraged to display the Philippine Flag in all offices, agencies, and instruments of government, businesses, establishments, schools, and private homes throughout this period.

Alongside the event, The National Police College takes pride to honor the seven (7) Public Safety Officers Basic Course (PSOBC) Lateral students awarded with the Order of Lapu-Lapu Medal who bravely fought and risked their lives during the five-month-long Marawi Siege in 2017.
