NPC Director Dr. Romeo S. Magsalos Inspires Action on Anti-Global Warming Advocacy

National Police College (NPC) Director Dr. Romeo S. Magsalos delivered a compelling lecture at the NPC Heroes Hall to an audience of uniformed and non-uniformed personnel, as well as student officers from Public Safety Officer Advanced Course (PSOAC) Classes 2024-25 to 30. The session emphasized the pivotal role of law enforcement in combating global warming and advancing sustainable environmental practices.

Dr. Magsalos began by highlighting the alarming impacts of plastics, styrofoam, and climate change on public safety and national development. He stressed the need for collective action to protect the environment, linking NPC’s advocacy to Republic Act No. 9003, or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2001 management,” he explained. “As leaders, we must champion its implementation to reduce waste and promote sustainability.”

The lecture also showcased NPC’s ongoing initiatives, including coastal clean-ups, mangrove planting, sustainable gardening, and waste segregation programs. These efforts align with RA 9003 and enhance awareness of law enforcement’s critical role in environmental protection.

Dr. Magsalos elaborated on the importance of mangroves as natural shields against coastal erosion and carbon sinks that mitigate global warming. He urged the NPC personnel and student officers to adopt these practices in their communities.

The event concluded with a collective singing of “KANLUNGAN” which encapsulates the advocacy on how to strengthen NPC’s environmental programs. Dr. Magsalos commended the collaborative spirit: “Our commitment to RA 9003 and environmental conservation reflects our dedication to safeguarding the future of our nation.”Through this initiative, the NPC continues to lead by example, integrating environmental advocacy into public safety leadership and inspiring action toward sustainable development.
