The SAF 44 Forest Park at the National Police College

A year after the gallant sacrifice of the Special Action Force (SAF) 44, the National Police College (NPC) under the dedicated leadership of DR. ROMEO SEVILLA MAGSALOS, MPSA, Director of NPC, took a significant step to honor and immortalize the heroism of these brave men. This initiative resulted in the establishment of the SAF 44 Forest Park, a solemn space within the National Police College dedicated to remembering the sacrifice, gallantry, and heroism of the SAF 44.

The establishment of SAF 44 Forest Park was formalized through a Board Resolution by the National Police College, signifying the institution’s commitment to ensuring that the memory of SAF 44 lives on. This dedicated space, now a no-build zone, serves as a perpetual reminder of the bravery displayed by the SAF 44 during a mission that demanded the utmost courage and dedication.

This year, the National Police College initiated a week-long commemoration for the SAF 44, beginning on January 15, 2024. The commemorative events aimed to ensure that the sacrifices made by these fallen heroes are not forgotten and continue to inspire future generations of law enforcement officers.

As part of the commemoration, all mandatory classes at the National Police College incorporated daily short video clips about SAF 44 before the start of class instructions. This allowed students to learn about the events surrounding the heroic mission, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation for the sacrifice made by the SAF 44.

Highlighting the week’s events was the Traditional Flag Raising Ceremony on January 22, 2024, where PLTCOL RIX SUPREMO VILLACERAN was invited as the Guest Speaker. His presence added significance to the ceremony, providing insights and reflections on the values of courage and sacrifice exemplified by the SAF 44.

January 25, 2024, marked a pivotal day in the commemoration, DR. ROMEO S. MAGSALOS, MPSA (NPC DIRECTOR) led all NPC campuses to a halt to recognize, commemorate, salute, and remember the sacrifice, gallantry, and heroism of the SAF 44. The day commenced with a solemn wreath-laying ceremony, followed by a mass and various activities dedicated to honoring the memory of the SAF 44.
